Soil Stabilisation

Soil Stabilisation.

Soil stabilisation is the addition of binding agents to soil to improve the quality and condition of the soil. Most commonly used are lime and cement with the amounts used varying depending on the soil types and condition.

H. H. James & Son Ltd are able to supply a full soil stabilisation service or we have a wide range of machinery available to hire to meet your requirements and outputs.

The process.

The soil should be tested by an inderpendant laboratory to find out what kind of binding agent an at what amount should be used to achieve the required quality of soil.

The recommended binding agent should then be spread onto the soil using a purpose built spreader ensuring the correct rate of application per meter square.

Mixing

When the binding agent has been spread it then needs to be mixed thoroughly to ensure that the binding agent has good soil contact so that it performs to it optimum. The depth of mixing is generally 300-350mm but this is dependant on the site and conditions.
